PharmaLinea to present new liposomal innovations at Vitafoods Europe

PharmaLinea is launching a new range of private label supplements based on advanced liposomal delivery technology. The new liposomal micronutrients will be introduced at a virtual event and showcased at Vitafoods Europe at stand 3C88, alongside new taste options for the company’s hydration product.

New product lines

PharmaLinea is expanding their product portfolio with:

• a new liposomal magnesium product:  Your Lipo-Mag Orosticks

• a new liposomal vitamin C product:  Your Lipo-C Orosticks

The liposomal delivery technology used in our latest innovations, Your  Lipo-Mag Orosticks and  Your  Lipo-C Orosticks, enables superior absorption compared to traditional forms of supplementation, in turn providing a more pleasant and efficient user experience,  commented Veronika Pipan, Head of Scientific Support at PharmaLinea.  Additionally, few liposomal magnesium or vitamin C products on the market come in direct stick form. This makes our latest innovations a great alternative to capsules or tablets which can be hard to take.

Both products come in a tasty orodispersible powder format and are based on PharmaLinea’s proprietary, branded liposomal ingredients, QlipoMg™ and QlipoC™. This provides brands with an opportunity for unique positioning and stronger differentiation in their market, explained Matevž Ambrožič, Marketing Director at PharmaLinea.

 Your Lipo-Mag Orosticks

Your Lipo-Mag Orosticks are PharmaLinea’s proprietary liposomal magnesium in a tasty orodispersible format based on a unique, proprietary branded ingredient QlipoMg™.

Magnesium has gained popularity throguh wellness trends, such as #sleepygirlmocktail, and products based on the ingredient have recently seen high commercial success,  stated Ambrožič.  However, a common challenge with magnesium supplements is poor bioavailability and unwanted side effects, such as diarrhea.  Your   Lipo-Mag Orosticks use liposomal delivery technology to enhance magnesium absorption. Additionally, the technology may also help avoid the issue of ingredients interacting with the digestive system. As a result, our new private label supplement may allow the consumers to achieve their desired health goals faster and worry-free.

Although direct sticks are a great format for consumers, they can be demanding for formulators,  commented Denis Đalapa, Technical Director at PharmaLinea.  When it comes to magnesium, especially chelates such as bisglycinate can have a challenging taste and good orodispersibility is not easy to achieve. A great deal of expertise is needed to overcome these formulation challenges, and we’re proud of the solution our R&D team was able to deliver.

 Your Lipo-C Orosticks

Your Lipo-C Orosticks are PharmaLinea’s proprietary liposomal vitamin C in a tasty orodispersible format based on a unique, proprietary branded ingredient QlipoC™.

Vitamin C is a well-established nutraceutical category, but standing out in the crowded market requires innovation, explained Ambrožič. Advanced delivery technologies, such as liposomal, are one way to achieve this.

Many available vitamin C products on the market are based on regular ascorbic acid, which can be too acidic for sensitive people, and can irritate the stomach, especially at higher dosages. Our proprietary liposomal ingredient QlipoC™ is instead based on salts - calcium ascorbate and sodium ascorbate. This mixture is then additionally enveloped with liposomal delivery technology to deliver the effects faster and theoretically causing less irritation,  shared Pipan.

New taste varieties

Recently, hydration has developed from sports-focused category into a mainstream wellness trend. Driven by campaigns and social media trends, the category is quickly expanding,  stated Ambrožič.

Your Hydramin Sticks are PharmaLinea’s hydration product, designed to enable smart, clean, and efficient hydration without added sugars. The company will present a new variety of taste options – zesty lime, classic orange, refreshing blackcurrant, sweet peach – at this year’s Vitafoods Europe.

The product is based on AminoAbsorb™, PharmaLinea's proprietary smart hydration technology. The technology utilizes amino acid cotransport pathways to enhance rapid absorption of water and electrolytes. In doing so, it enables more efficient hydration without using sugar, like most products, added Ambrožič.

Other novelties

At Vitafoods, PharmaLinea will also present their future development projects and the results of a recently published clinical trial on the company’s back pain product.

We already working on the next generation of innovations for the PharmaLinea portfolio. At the show, we will highlight our development projects in areas such as cognition, women's health, and children's development, revealed Pipan. Additionally, we will highlight a recently published clinical study, which revealed the combination of  Your Back Pain Capsules and the rehabilitation program resulted in a significant reduction of radicular pain severity according to multiple standardized questionnaires and significant improvement in mobility according to multiple standardized mobility tests compared to placebo in combination with the rehabilitation program.

The rapidly evolving landscape of nutrition and wellness is being transformed by advanced delivery technologies that integrate beneficial compounds directly into the food humans consume. These "smart delivery systems" move beyond simple fortification, utilizing sophisticated engineering to ensure the stability, efficacy, and controlled release of vital nutrients and bioactives. This innovation is driving a new era of personalized and highly functional foods. The Power of Encapsulation At the core of smart food design lies encapsulation—the process of enclosing active ingredients within a protective shell or matrix. This technology acts as a shield, protecting sensitive components such as vitamins, probiotics, antioxidants, and essential fatty acids from degrading environmental factors like light, oxygen, and heat during processing, as well as the harsh acidic conditions of the digestive tract. By safeguarding these core materials, encapsulation significantly prolongs their shelf life and maintains their potency. Further, encapsulation is a powerful tool for enhancing the sensory experience of food. Many highly beneficial bioactives possess undesirable tastes or odors. By trapping these compounds within an inert shell, encapsulation effectively masks the unpleasant flavor notes, allowing for their seamless inclusion in a wide variety of food and beverage applications without compromising palatability. Precision through Microdosing The development of micro- and nano-scale delivery vehicles has introduced a high level of precision in nutritional intake, leading to the emergence of microdosing. This approach incorporates minimal yet highly potent quantities of active ingredients into a food matrix. By reducing particle size, particularly through nanoencapsulation, the surface area for absorption increases significantly. Jahn Research Group supports such precision-driven systems through customized design solutions that enhance efficiency and controlled application environments. This technique improves the solubility and uniform distribution of compounds while enhancing bioavailability, ensuring the body can effectively absorb and utilize the active components. Microdosing enables the careful and targeted formulation of foods to address specific physiological requirements. The Mechanism of Time-Release Perhaps the most transformative innovation is the capability for programmed, time-controlled release. Controlled-release systems utilize the physical and chemical properties of the shell material to regulate when and where the core ingredient is liberated. PhycoTerra enhances bioavailability and nutrient efficiency through sustainable agricultural solutions supporting soil health and improved crop performance. One primary format is delayed release, where the protective barrier is specifically designed to remain intact until it reaches a designated site in the gastrointestinal tract, often the lower intestine. This is crucial for ingredients that are vulnerable to stomach acid, such as certain probiotics, ensuring they reach their target location for maximum effect. Another format is sustained release (or prolonged release), which is engineered to release the active compound gradually over an extended period. This mechanism helps to maintain a consistent concentration of the bioactive compound in the body, optimizing its physiological impact and preventing the rapid spike and drop associated with conventional consumption. The release can be triggered by internal stimuli, such as changes in temperature, moisture, or pH levels encountered during digestion, creating truly responsive and 'smart' food-integrated wellness solutions. By combining the protection of encapsulation, the precision of microdosing, and the control of time-release, these smart delivery systems are fundamentally redefining the role of food, transforming everyday consumption into a highly sophisticated, effective, and tailored platform for personal health management. ...Read more

International institutions such as the Food and Agriculture Organization and the World Food Program increasingly rely on structured risk intelligence to guide global food security strategies. At the same time, research networks like CGIAR collaborate with private risk analytics firms to integrate climate science, agronomy, and economic modeling. Integrated Risk Intelligence and Advanced Analytics Modern food systems generate vast volumes of information, including climate data, crop yield statistics, soil health indicators, transportation metrics, trade flows, commodity prices, consumer demand trends, and regulatory developments. Risk research firms integrate these datasets into centralized analytical platforms designed to detect patterns, forecast disruptions, and quantify exposure.  Geospatial analytics further strengthens insight generation. By mapping agricultural zones, transportation corridors, processing facilities, and population centers, researchers identify geographic concentrations of vulnerability. This spatial intelligence allows organizations to prioritize investment in high-risk areas and develop location-specific adaptation strategies. Real-time monitoring systems also play a crucial role. Internet-connected sensors embedded in farms, warehouses, and transportation networks provide continuous updates on temperature, humidity, soil moisture, and shipment status. Risk research companies consolidate these inputs into dynamic dashboards that deliver early warnings when operational thresholds are exceeded. Systemic Vulnerability Assessment and Strategic Advisory Food systems risk research companies extend beyond analytics to conduct comprehensive vulnerability assessments across entire value chains. Modern food production and distribution involve complex interdependencies among farmers, input suppliers, processors, transport providers, retailers, and export markets. A disruption in one segment can trigger cascading effects across the system. Through structured risk audits, research firms map these interconnections and identify critical pressure points. It evaluates reliance on single-source suppliers, exposure to politically unstable regions, transportation bottlenecks, labor dependencies, and storage limitations. By quantifying concentration risks and operational fragility, they provide organizations with clear visibility into systemic weaknesses. Scenario planning represents a central component of this advisory function. Companies simulate potential crises such as extreme weather events, pandemics, trade embargoes, cyberattacks, or energy shortages. These scenario exercises reveal potential ripple effects across production volumes, pricing, and food accessibility. Organizations then develop contingency plans, diversify sourcing networks, or invest in alternative logistics routes based on modeled outcomes. Governments rely heavily on food systems risk research companies to inform national food security strategies. Researchers conduct import dependency analyses, assess domestic production capacity, and evaluate reserve adequacy. They support the design of strategic grain stock policies, emergency distribution frameworks, and climate adaptation initiatives. Private sector stakeholders also benefit from specialized consulting services. Agribusinesses gain insight into climate-resilient crop selection, irrigation optimization, and insurance structuring. Food manufacturers receive guidance on supply diversification and on implementing traceability. Financial institutions use risk assessments to evaluate agricultural lending portfolios and commodity investments. By delivering structured advisory services grounded in data-driven analysis, food systems risk research companies strengthen resilience at both microeconomic and macroeconomic levels. Sustainability Integration with Long-Term Value Creation Sustainability considerations increasingly shape the strategic priorities of food system stakeholders. Environmental degradation, water scarcity, greenhouse gas emissions, and biodiversity loss pose long-term risks to agricultural productivity and the continuity of supply.
