Leading Food Service Operations Through Hands-On Experience

My experience in management and food service has taught me that you have to be hands-on, understand the business from the ground up and be willing to jump in wherever you’re needed. I believe in leading by example, building strong relationships with my team, and holding people accountable while giving them the tools and support they need to succeed. Food Service has taught me how important consistency, quality, and customer service are, but also how much the little things impact the overall operation. I look at the numbers, pay attention to what is happening in the stores and look for ways we can improve, grow sales, and operate more efficiently. At the end of the day, I want to make decisions that are good for the business, our employees, and our customers. I’ve worked hard to get where I am, and I believe that experience has given me practical, no-nonsense approach to leadership and a real understanding of what it takes to make an operation successful!

Balancing Food Quality, Inventory Control, and Profitability I balance food quality, inventory and operational efficiency by focusing on consistency, accountability, and paying attention to the details. Food quality has to come first because our customers expect a good product every time they walk through the door. At the same time, we have to manage inventory properly, watch waste and make sure we have the right products available without overordering. I believe in using sales data to make informed decisions, adjusting what each store needs, and making sure our teams understand the importance of proper food handling, rotation and product availability. You have to find that balance between keeping the customer happy and running a profitable operation. My approach is to stay hands-on, identify opportunities for improvement, and make sure we are doing things the right way without making the process more complicated than it needs to be.

Maintaining Consistent Standards Across Multiple Locations

I believe managing teams starts with setting clear expectations, leading by example, and holding everyone accountable. I want my team to understand what is expected of them, but I also want them to have the support and resources they need to be successful. Consistency is key, especially when managing multiple locations, so I focus on communication, training, and follow-up, making sure standards are being met across the operation. I also believe in getting out in the stores, seeing things firsthand, and working alongside my teams when needed. Every store and every team are different, so you have to be willing to adapt while still maintaining the same expectations for quality, service and performance. At the end of the day, I want to build a team that takes pride in what they do, understands their role in the success of the business, and knows that I am there to help them succeed while making sure we get the job done!

Using Financial Insight to Improve Operational Decisions

My experience with accounts payable, inventory, and financial processes has helped me understand how all of the pieces of the operation work together. I know that the small details can have a big impact on the bottom line, from managing inventory and reducing waste to reviewing costs, identifying discrepancies, and making sure we are getting the most value out of our spending. I try to make decisions based on numbers, but I also believe in looking at what is happening in the operation firsthand. You can look good on paper, but if the processes aren’t working in the stores, then something needs to change. My background has taught me to pay attention to both the financial side and the dayto-day operation so I can identify opportunities, control costs, and improve profitability without sacrificing quality or customer service. I believe understanding the numbers helps me make smarter decisions and see opportunities that might otherwise be overlooked.

“At the end of the day, I want to make decisions that are good for the business, our employees, and our customers.”

Building Engaged Teams That Prioritize Customer Satisfaction

I believe keeping a team engaged starts with understanding that people are motivated in different ways and that no two situations are exactly alike. I focus on finding ways to make processes easier, setting priorities, and making sure we are working toward the same goals. In food service, things move quickly, and being able to adapt, solve problems, and keep the operation moving is essential. Every team has different strengths and challenges, so being willing to listen, provide support and find solutions is very important. At the end of the day, happy customers come from a team that knows what is expected, has the tools to succeed, and understands that what they do every day makes a difference in the success of the business.
