The United States is often referred to as an ethnic “melting pot” of various cultures. It is crucial not to lose out on their authenticity with different cultures being introduced into the country. Undeniably, a big part of every culture is its food, like Spanish food. The authenticity of any dish is lost due to unavailability of the right ingredients and using substitutes. Supply chain issues are the biggest cause of this problem, and although many have attempted to fix this issue, one name that shines through is Génere Food Corp.
A grocery wholesaler and food service distributor, Génere Food Corp specializes in wholesale Spanish product distribution, so restaurants, retail, grocery stores, and wholesale distributors always get fresh ingredients. It covers a diverse urban marketplace in Rhode Island, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Connecticut.
“We provide high-quality products and meet the needs of our consumers through innovative task forces, who are trained and identify with the continuous improvement of our products and company,” states Jose Genere, president at Génere Food Corp.
While many distributors have crumbled under supply chain or service labor pressure, this is where Génere thrives. It has reached double-digit sales growth every year since its founding because of Genere’s dedication and extensive experience in the field. To keep up with this rapid growth, it has expanded its warehouse location multiple times over the past years.

Génere also founded America’s Fresh Produce to provide more tropical and fresh produce for restaurants and retailers in America. “We offer over 4,000 products, from fresh produce, canned and dry goods, dairy, fruits, kitchen equipment, paper supplies, and cleaning supplies. By expanding our business, we aim to be the leaders in the distribution of consumer products in the New England area,” says Sean Buchanan, CFO of Génere Food Corp.
Génere Food Corp’s main reason for starting the fresh produce company was to help a fast-growing East coast chain of Hispanic grocery stores set tropical produce. The chain could not get competitive pricing and quality for their customer base. They produce high-quality foods like Cubanelle, Peppers, Cassava, and more with Génere’s help for the local Hispanic community.
Recently, Génere expanded its business by purchasing a meat business, Bonollo Provisions. With contributions from Bonollo and America’s Fresh Produce, Génere offers more than 6000 products, from canned and dry goods to cleaning supplies.
Génere Food Corp’s strong level of customer service helps it take purchasing to the next level as a tool for grocers and other clients to increase efficiency, consumer service, and sales. It talks to clients through multiple channels and understands their challenges, requirements, and what they can swap out to ensure the right delivery of products to customers.
Génere works with clients of all sizes. Genere understands the products to be sold and customer expectations since he has the experience of owning a retail store. Above all, he understands store owners’ pressures to provide the best products to their customers. In addition, as people are becoming more food aware and starting to eat food from different cultures, it is in a perfect position to work with larger retailers and grocery chains to provide bigger and better products to its clientele.
Génere's commitment to success and dedicated customer service will continue to pave the way for future growth with a fast-growing business and an even larger clientele.
