Jennifer Toomey, Head of New Product Development, U.S. Innovation in the nutraceutical and functional food industry is no longer measured solely by ingredient quality, but by how consumers experience it. Modern buyers want products that are convenient, enjoyable and aligned with emerging health trends. For brands, meeting these evolving expectations demands a reliable manufacturing partner that can anticipate consumer preferences and design future-ready products.
TopGum Industries helps brands bring innovative, commercially viable supplement solutions to market with confidence. Rather than simply following market trends, the company is driven by an entrepreneurial spirit that pushes it to anticipate where the gummy category is headed and build the capabilities needed to get there first.
The conviction that effective supplementation should begin with an enjoyable experience underpins TopGum’s product development approach. Gummies are its primary dose form, chosen for their naturally enjoyable, treat-like qualities. Drawing on its confectionery heritage, the company applies its expertise in flavor, color and aroma to create an enjoyable sensory experience in every gummy.
“People don't get excited about taking tablets, but they do enjoy gummies. Our products preserve that enjoyment while delivering the quality and nutritional value consumers expect," says Jennifer Toomey, head of new product development, U.S.

Longevity remains a major opportunity in the vitamins, minerals and supplements (VMS) market, with areas such as eye and cognitive health outpacing broader supplement growth. Gut health also remains a strong area of demand, prompting continued investments in technologies such as its patented prebiotic dietary fiber delivery system.
To help brands capitalize on these emerging opportunities, TopGum has built a manufacturing network designed around the different requirements of its global customers. With varying distribution networks, shipping locations, certifications and consumer needs, brands may require different production capabilities and geographic options. TopGum’s network allows it to align manufacturing with those requirements while bringing innovative gummy formulations to market.
TopGum has also begun operations at its second state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Israel and completed its acquisition of Island Abbey Nutritionals, now TopGum Canada. Together, these investments have expanded its manufacturing capacity and given clients access to specialized production capabilities across multiple regions.
North America represents TopGum’s largest market, and the acquisition of a New York facility certified to produce OTC and VMS gummies is strengthening its ability to serve customers in the region. The site is being developed as a North American Innovation Center where customers can work with TopGum on new formulations, explore emerging applications and see the company’s capabilities firsthand. Dedicated viewing areas will allow them to observe production without compromising Good Manufacturing Practice requirements. The move also positions the company to extend its gummy manufacturing expertise into the OTC space, a category with significant opportunity for future growth.
Each facility within TopGum’s manufacturing network serves a distinct purpose. The Israel facility specializes in starch-based production, while the facilities in Canada and New York offer starchless manufacturing capabilities, giving brands greater flexibility to meet diverse product requirements. It has also invested in advanced equipment and automation to improve manufacturing precision and efficiency at the new facilities.
Engineering Solutions for Complex Formulations
TopGum’s technical capability enables it to solve nuanced problems. In one instance, a customer approached the company after launching a women's health gummy with another manufacturer.
Processing challenges associated with a particularly difficult ingredient led to the original supplier discontinuing production, leaving the brand without a manufacturing partner. TopGum worked through the processing complexities to establish a production method that enabled the customer to return to the market with a consistent supply of the product.
“We do not like to say no or be limited by constraints. We view challenges as opportunities to push the boundaries of what is possible within gummy manufacturing,” says Toomey.
Growing Globally, Working as One
Becoming a global organization can often create additional layers between teams and make communication more challenging. As TopGum has expanded its footprint, it has prioritized preserving close collaboration that has long defined the company.
Each facility brings different capabilities, creating opportunities for teams to share knowledge and learn from one another. Employees regularly travel between sites to build relationships and exchange ideas, while teams across product development, operations, procurement, supply chain, finance and sales work closely to coordinate priorities and respond to changing market demands.
Leadership reinforces this collaborative culture through accessibility and open communication. By maintaining close connections across its growing network, TopGum ensures that expertise developed at one site can benefit teams and customers across the organization.
Exploring New Possibilities
Growth at TopGum is guided by a clear principle that every investment must serve the company’s mission of delivering innovative and enjoyable gummy formats.
It continues to explore how advances in gummy technology can help deliver ingredients, address emerging health needs and open applications that were previously difficult to achieve in the format. Current focus centers on developing new gummy formats across natural fruit-based products, sugar-free technologies and larger-format applications.
TopGum’s expansion into OTC gummies represents another step in extending the possibilities of the format, while its work with complex formulations demonstrates how technical expertise can overcome manufacturing constraints.
For TopGum, growth is ultimately a means of advancing its mission. By continually pushing the boundaries of what gummies can deliver, it aims to stay ahead of changing consumer needs and lead the next generation of gummy innovation.
